Dr. Melman is a psychiatrist in Seattle specializing in brain stimulation therapies for treatment-resistant depression. He received his MD degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, had 2 years of internal medicine residency at Virginia Mason Hospital and then completed his psychiatry residency and chief residency at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute.

Dr. Melman is the former Medical Director of Behavioral Health Services at Swedish Medical Center, Providence Seattle Medical Center and Valley Medical Center.  He has also served as the Medical Director of the Swedish Electroconvulsive Therapy Service and is on the Clinical Faculty of the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Dr. Melman’s professional goal is to study and provide a range of neurostimulation treatment options, including ECT, TMS, VNS and DBS, for psychiatric disorders that have not responded to medications and psychotherapy.

Dr. Melman is a member of the Swedish Neuroscience Institute (SNI), American Psychiatric Association, Washington State Psychiatric Association, Clinical TMS Society as well as International Society for ECT and Neurostimulation.
